It is the fifth era, the Rompótoic Age. Humanity is safe-thanks to the Ministry of Common Sense, a powerful force of artificial super-intelligent machines. But after a year of no news of any consequence, the Ministry has gone on strike, and the universe is quickly descending into chaos. The stakes are high-there's the psychopathic Skagans who thrive on chaos, Rannie Dearheat who's profiting from the Ministry's core memory, and Gillian Bates, an empire ruler with her own plans. Not to mention the car parking junta, who want to make sure there's a fee for every square inch of every planet.

The fate of the galaxy rests on Tom's shoulders, but he doesn't even know what he's getting into.
