Bessie is excited to spend a morning with her friend Andy Caine, taking a look at the changes he's planning to make to the house he recently purchased. Andy is a brilliant chef, and Bessie is excited to hear about his plans for a large restaurant and event centre with living space on the floors above the business. She's also pleased to meet the man who is helping with the renovation. Robert Foster has travelled to the island from Liverpool to work with Andy. He's good at his job, and he's very happy to meet Bessie because he's heard about her work on the cold case unit.

While he isn't expecting Bessie to solve the case, he wants to tell her about the cold case from his past. Bessie can't forget the story, though, and it doesn't take her long to find someone to help her learn more about the case. In the meantime, Andrew Cheatham is back on the island with the rest of the cold case unit. He's brought a complicated murder investigation, with witnesses who are scattered across the globe.

With Andrew about to have heart surgery and the cold case unit under more scrutiny than ever, Bessie is determined to solve both cases as quickly as possible. But she's searching for two very different killers, both of whom are desperate to keep getting away with murder.
