Earth, alone for centuries in the galaxy, encounters another sapient species. The new race has no interest in peaceful coexistence and soon the Earth Alliance is fighting for its life. A lone fleet and their civilian charges find shelter in a mining colony that resists the invading hordes of enemy vessels. But things are not as they seem. The president of the colonies has a hidden agenda and sends the oldest ship with the worst crew they could find. Internal conflicts and equipment breakdowns plague the mission as the civilian crew fights to fulfill a mission doomed from the start. Only a miracle can put the Pathfinders in Earth space before the enemy destroys the colony of Babylon and her teaming millions.
