Adolescence is a complex phenomenon that presents many challenges. This paper discusses these challenges. The aim is to identify the career-related difficulties young people face and how they can best be supported during the transition to adulthood. A link is established between transition support and the concept of 'life-world orientation'. Furthermore, the concept of life-world orientation is examined in greater detail. An additional chapter examines in greater detail the organisational concept of 'Take off Pratteln', which is part of the Blue Cross Youth Social Work Foundation and is a day programme for young people. It investigates whether this institution operates in accordance with the principles of life-world orientation. Building on the previous chapters, conclusions are drawn for professional practice. The findings highlight just how essential it is to provide young people with appropriate support.
