Through this book, I aim to convey a significant message. With 25 years of experience as a photographer, I've noticed that many people feel self-conscious in front of the camera. Later, as a coach and after experiencing negative self-talk and a poor self-image myself following motherhood, I understood the importance of addressing this issue, particularly for future generations. Originally, cameras were intended to capture and celebrate memories, expressions, and creativity. However, they have increasingly become tools for judgment, self-destruction, and self-sabotage.
My solution is not to abandon photography. Instead, I advocate for the use of self-portraits, a method many ancient artists employed to express their stories through a more loving and self-expressive medium. Self-portraits focus on how we feel in a picture, whereas selfies focus on how we look.
I find it crucial to discuss this now as we enter the world of artificial intelligence. AI agents and online avatars may further detach us from our true selves, pushing us towards an unattainable perfection.
This Book Brings you back to you away from the pressure to be perfect .
