Book 1
New owner of Landis Labs, a corporation that makes antivenom, Lynell Landis is overcome with grief when her father suddenly dies from snake venom. Ricardo Sanchez, owner of a coffee plantation where the snake who killed her father was captured, depends on Landis Labs to supply his clinic with the crucial antivenom for his patients in Honduras. Since he provided her father with the giant Fer-de-Lance whose venom killed him, she blames Sanchez for the accident.
When Sanchez invites her to visit him in Honduras, she travels to his plantation and finds herself immersed in another world where death is rampant from gangs, drug dealers, disease, and snakebites. Her plan to make him pay for her father's death unravels when she sees Ricardo's love and concern for the Honduran people, and her feelings for Sanchez begin to change. Beautiful Leslie Linwood, who works for Landis Labs, visits Scott's lab to acquire three pairs of snakes at $15,000 a pair. When she arrives, she learns the lab has been robbed, and there are no snakes left to purchase.
Besides the loss from the robbery, painful pasts involving family plague both Scott and Leslie. When his nephew is bitten by a rattlesnake, Scott has an opportunity to save the boy and repair the bitter feud with his father. Does he take it, or will his pride get in the way?
