Book Three of The Westborough Crusaders picks up where the brown envelope lands and follows eight lives through hospital rooms and homecomings, through radiation treatments and rehabilitation centers, through the letters that get delivered and the facts that refuse to resolve. Keithe discovers he has a son. Mike disappears into a descent nobody checks on. Sandy gets moved to a new foster placement. Daniel Bergman has good days and bad days, and the bad days are getting worse.

This is the book about what happens after. After the cameras, after the columns, after the farewell. Canterbilly's grandfather clock has stopped, and the question the novel asks is whether anyone will choose to wind it. The answer is not simple, because some things in Westborough do not resolve, and the novel is honest enough to say so.

The Stopped Clock completes the trilogy that began with The Year Before the Wire and continued through A Farewell to Shins. It is a novel about recovery without guarantees, return without restoration, and the stubborn human insistence on winding clocks that will only stop again.
