The Trouble With Genies

The Trouble with Genies, Vol. 2: The Trial of Lynn picks up after Ghost-and-Guardian-Apprentice. Lynn is believed to have been ghost-napped by the genie Chesun. Lynn wakes up trapped inside the body of Bradley Owen Ruben-a gay twenty-year-old Kansan with a rap sheet, a dying mother, and a secret royal bloodline. Lynn discovers Bradley is the illegitimate son of Amil Nagi, the murdered Emir of Xintu, a hidden island where humans and genies coexist-and that Bradley's late father sent a genie bodyguard, Izayn, to protect him. With Bradley's ruthless cousin Daniel and his Marid genie Amiden hunting them, Lynn (posing as Bradley) and Izayn go on the run: reconciling with Bradley's estranged, dying mother; fleeing an attack that burns down a hospital; and eventually reaching Knight Shift headquarters, where Lynn reunites with old teammates (Jerome, Hashim, Iris, Rachel, and Nacona) who must help without blowing his cover.

As the real Bradley's consciousness surfaces elsewhere as a hostile ghost of his own, Lynn is pulled deeper into genie politics-freeing the enslaved genie Waheb, learning Xintu's history, and racing toward a deadline: Where he must appear before Xintu's court before Daniel can seize the throne. The novel blends body-swap drama, genie mythology, road-trip bonding, and questions of identity, duty, and grace, building toward a multi-team expedition to the vanishing island of Xintu.
