The Vocabulary of Modern Warfare provides a structured guide to the vocabulary of the modern battlefield using the example of the Ukraine-Russia war. With over 2,000 terms, this book is for students who ideally already have an intermediate knowledge of Ukrainian and now want to specialize in Ukrainian battlefield terminology, using English as their starting point. The book is also suitable for soldiers who need a quick reference work, or for new students who are looking for a general introduction to Ukrainian military vocabulary.

The English-Ukrainian terminology is structured in chapters according to the main aspects of the modern battlefield, from command structure, through infantry equipment, military vehicles, artillery, the topology of the battlefield, through to medical care. Each section contains the main terms that are relevant to that area, grouped by context. There is also a chapter dedicated to typical combat commands and real-world expressions as used in assault operations or when attending to the wounded.

A separate chapter on drone warfare provides structured vocabulary on drone components, drone capabilities, payload options, drone operations, and drone counter-measures.

The vocabulary lists are enriched with many example phrases that bring alive and extend the vocabulary. Due to their cross-area usage, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, and prepositions are grouped in separate lists in the General Vocabulary section.
