Introduction
God's Word is an inexhaustible source of wisdom, comfort, and guidance for all situations in life. In Psalm 119:105, we are told, "Your word is a lamp to my feet; it is a light on my path" (NIV). This verse highlights how the Bible illuminates our path, providing us with direction in times of uncertainty and comfort in times of distress. Below, we will explore how you can find help in God's Word to deal with specific situations after leaving LGBT life.
The Power of God's Word
The Bible is alive and powerful, capable of transforming lives and circumstances.
In Hebrews 4:12, we are told, "Surely the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword; it penetrates to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (NIV). Scripture not only informs, but also penetrates deeply into our being, bringing conviction, comfort, and change.
Look for Direction in the Word:
When we face difficult decisions, the Bible offers wisdom and direction. In Proverbs 3:5-6, we are exhorted, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and not in your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight" (NIV). This verse encourages us to trust God and seek His direction in all our decisions.

Finding Comfort in the Word:
The Bible offers comfort in times of pain and anguish. In 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, we are told, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the merciful Father and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations, so that with the same comfort that we have received from God, we also may be able to comfort all who suffer" (NIV). God is our source of comfort in all our difficulties.
Dealing with Rejection and Persecution:
After leaving the LGBT life, you may face rejection and persecution. Jesus warns us of this in John 15:18-19: "If the world hates you, remember that before you, it hated me. If they were of the world, the world would love them as its own. But you are not of the world, but I have chosen you from among the world; therefore, the world hates them" (NIV). It is important to remember that we are not alone, and that Jesus also faced rejection.
Renouncing Temptation:
Temptation is a reality, but God provides us with a way out. In 1 Corinthians 10:13, we are told: "You have not suffered any temptation that is not common to mankind. But God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. Rather, when temptation comes, he will also give them a way out so that they may be able to resist" (NIV). God gives us the strength and escape needed to resist temptation.

Finding Identity in Christ:
After leaving the LGBT life, it is vital to find and affirm our new identity in Christ. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, we are told, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed, the new has arrived!" (NIV). Our identity is now based on our relationship with Christ, not our past.
Strengthening in the Christian Community:
The Christian community is a source of support and encouragement. In Hebrews 10:24-25, we are admonished, "Let us be anxious for one another, that we may stir up one another to love and good works. Let us not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, as some are wont to do, but let us encourage one another, and all the more so now that we see that day approaching" (NIV). Fellowship with other believers strengthens us and helps us persevere.
Forgiveness and Healing:
Forgiveness is crucial to inner healing. In Colossians 3:13, we are told, "Therefore if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive one another just as the Lord forgave you" (NIV). Forgiveness frees our hearts from resentment and allows God to work on our healing. So, Let's do it!
