What was supposed to be the conclusion of a Christmas family reunion turned into a nightmare. On 26 December 2004, the German author and her family were caught up in the Tsunami while staying on the Island of Phuket in Thailand. Hundreds of thousands died in this deadly wave, many others were traumatized for a long time. Anke Engel and her family did survive, partly seriously injured. They owe their lives among other things to the sacrificial efforts of the Thai helpers as well as to the unbureaucratic help from the German side. This is a gripping account of a woman, whose life was shaken through the experience of this disaster but was nonetheless deepened. The author gives a first-hand report of what happened to her and her family, how she tried to cope with it and what helped her in the process. This is a book for re-experiencing and as an encouragement.
