He pulls a small, sturdy wooden box from his bag and sets it on the table between you. He opens it, and instead of gold or bills, he pulls out a tiny, withered-looking seed and a small, vibrant green plant growing in a glass jar. "This," he gestures to the coins you've been imagining, "is like this seed. If you keep it in a box, it stays a seed forever. It's safe, sure, but it's dormant. It doesn't do anything. It doesn't grow. It just takes up space."

He slides the glass jar with the green plant toward you. "Now, this? This is an Asset. An asset is anything you own that has the potential to grow in value, provide you with more, or create a 'harvest' over time. When you buy a simple toy, you're trading your seed for something that loses its shine the moment you take it out of the box. But when you acquire an asset, you're planting a garden."

You lean in closer, watching the way the roots twist through the water. "So, an asset is... a seed that makes more seeds?"

"Exactly," LaMarqus beams. "Think of it like a magical tree. If you plant a fruit tree, you don't eat the tree, do you? You wait for it to grow, and then it gives you fruit year after year.
