When a once-in-a-lifetime atmospheric river stalls over the top of the South Island, the sky doesn't just rain-it unleashes a relentless wall of water. In a matter of hours, the Wairau and Awatere Rivers overwhelm their banks, the Pelorus River becomes a raging force of destruction, and every road into the Marlborough Sounds-Queen Charlotte, Kenepuru, and Pelorus Sound / Te Hoiere-is cut off.
Entire communities are isolated. Power fails. Communications collapse.

As floodwaters swallow farmland, sweep away homes, and trigger massive landslides across Kenepuru and the surrounding hills, emergency responder Jack Rika is pushed to his limit-forced to make impossible choices about who can be saved... and who cannot.
Out on the water, Coastguard skipper Aroha Ngata battles violent currents and submerged debris in Pelorus Sound, leading desperate rescues through rising tides and collapsing shorelines. In the air, helicopter pilot Tomás Alvarez flies into near-impossible conditions over Tory Channel, risking everything to reach stranded families.
