Yeshua and Miriam of Magdala were never simply teacher and disciple - they were husband and wife, partners in a ministry the world wasn't ready to accept. When the crucifixion doesn't end his life the way his enemies intend, it still ends the life they built. Pregnant and marked, Miriam flees by sea to the far shore of Gaul, where she raises their daughter Sarah in hiding and becomes the teacher history chose to forget. Yeshua, healed but changed, travels east - through Kashmir's debate halls and monasteries - carrying his grief and his mother toward a grave under a foreign name.
Drawing on the Gospel of Mary, the Gospel of Philip, and the long tradition placing Yeshua's later life in India and Kashmir, this is the story of two people who never stopped being married even after they could never be together again - and what Miriam's own teaching might have been, if the world had ever thought to write it down.
An epilogue set in the present day closes a circle these two never got to close themselves.
