Zombie Boom

In 2008, an electorate dominated by regressive Baby Boomers had just nominated Sarah Palin to the John McCain ticket. To marketing agency director Alan Mason and his best friend, Stuart White, this moment seemed like the toll of a terrifying bell. A capitulation of common sense to conservative desperation. Over lunch, the two imagined the possibility of somehow "getting rid of" the cohort of voters who seemed intent on dragging America back into the 50's of their youth. It would have been just idle chat. Except that Stuart was a profoundly gifted savant who devised a plague that transformed everyone over the age of 70 into mellow, silent zombies.

It also had the effect of making Alan immortal and invulnerable. More than 200 years later, Samanta Sanders is hired to interview "The Immortal Carrier, Plague Father, Mr. Sunset" himself. Alan has been kept sequestered from the world-interrogated, tortured, experimented on-since the release of the plague in 2017. But now, the human/AI-hybrid rulers of Sam's world face the possibility of a new global catastrophe. And the only clues to preventing it may lie deep in Alan's subconscious, reachable only through friendship and empathy.
