There is no consensus of native species number in Amazon forest being necessary to study their technological properties for more rational use of this resource. Southern and Southeastern Brazilian regions are the most consumer of Brazilian tropical wood provided by Amazon forest for structures building. This study aims to estimate Strength and Stiffness of wood by their colorimetric parameters. Brazilian tropical wood species used in this study covered all strength classes range established by the Brazilian code ABNT NBR 7190: 1997 "Design of Timber Structures" being: Caixeta (Simarouba amara Aubl.), Cajueiro (Anacardium giganteum W. Hancock), Cambará (Erisma uncinatum Warm), Tatajuba (Bagassa guianenses Aubl.) and Roxinho (Peltogyne sp.). Proposed model gathering all wood species considered (using density as independent variable) were excellent, resulting in determination coefficients higher than 87% for the estimated mechanical properties.
